The Spirit Bird

Most birds flap their wings
to stay aloft, but the spirit bird
flutters frantically to hold itself
near the earth. If you shoot one,
it falls into the sky.

[Note: Perhaps that's why the ones who try to destroy themselves call it "shooting up."]

IF YOU KNOW ANYONE YOU THINK WOULD ENJOY RECEIVING THESE POEMS, PLEASE LET THEM KNOW, OR SEND ME THE NAME AND E-MAIL ADDRESS, AND I'LL SEND THEM A SAMPLE AND ASK IF HE/SHE WOULD LIKE TO BE ON THE LIST.
